Game issues occur unpredictably.
All games I play frequently crash randomly on the desktop without any error messages. I've used ddu to remove and reinstall drivers, uninstalled Windows 10 and reinstalled it, stress tested my GPU, CPU, and RAM, and all tests passed. I ran MemTest86, verified game files, performed sfc /scannow and chkdsk on all drives, and monitored temperatures—GPU and CPU stayed below 65°C. Despite this, nothing has resolved the issue; they still crash after 5 to 10 minutes of play. My system specs are: Ryzen 7 3700X, b550 Aus TUF, G.Skill DDR4 3200MHz 16GB, GTX 1070, Corsair 850RM Gold +.
a simple step often overlooked is ensuring the most recent dx, dotnet, and visual c++ distributions are installed.
which games are causing the issue?
and how did you simulate stress on the gpu and cpu?
I'm facing issues with several games including The Forest, Devour, Phasmaphobia, GTA 5, Rust (Steam), Division 2 (play), Battlefield 5 and Battlefield 1 (Origin). I used Unigine Superposition for GPU, CPU Z benchmark, and user benchmark. I encountered a 0xc0000005 error along with UnityPlayer.dll and nvwgf2umx.dll errors.
though the "0xc0000005" error is occasionally linked to memory problems, it may also stem from absent drivers and/or incorrect registry entries. the remaining issues are tied to specific driver faults.
are the games set up via the official launchers and install packages, or did you simply copy-paste them from an earlier setup?
i think you've updated all your system drivers since the Windows reinstall.
Yeah I've reinstalled all drivers and am using the latest BIOS, but after reinstalling Windows I formatted my drives and redownloaded my games. The problem still exists—my CLSI warnings appear in Event Viewer at different times than when the games crash.
have you verified the latest redistributables (dotnet & visual c++)?
when setting up Windows did you obtain the newest installer from Microsoft or is it an outdated version?
are the games stored on a separate drive from the operating system and benchmarking tools?
you might want to review Device Manager for any problems.
it’s also possible to test each memory stick individually in its corresponding DIMM slot to confirm no RAM issues are present.
noticeable that a Unigine application runs smoothly, but games fail and display driver errors despite proper installation.
Device manager shows no issues, I applied the Windows 10 October 2020 update which seems to be the newest version. I was curious since it felt unusual, but after playing Unigine in game mode for around 30 minutes with no problems, I wondered how to confirm I have the latest C++ and .NET, as I've already verified DirectX.
installing the newest Windows update and downloading the most recent complete OS install package are different actions. If the installer you used is slightly damaged but functional, or if certain drivers are missing, Windows Update might not recognize it. The only reliable method I know is to download and install the latest versions directly from their websites.
I have set up the newest Windows updates from February 2021, along with VC++ and .NET runtime, and will check for any differences.
