Since the Season 2 Reloaded update, my PC freezes constantly while playing MW2. I can’t even press ALT + F4 and have to perform a hard reset. I’ve followed all standard troubleshooting steps and submitted three tickets with Activision, asking them to repeat the same actions and send identical files. My system temperatures are normal—GPU and CPU around 70°C—and I haven’t replaced any hardware since launch. I’ve been playing since the game’s release and am frustrated because this is the only one that behaves this way. I’ve noticed others on Reddit with the same problem, but no solution has been provided. Today there was another update, and I tried a few matches right away, but the issue persists. Are others experiencing this or have they resolved it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated at this point.

Hello, the issue isn't resolved yet. It's been functioning for some time now, but the update introduced changes. Do you enjoy other games that run smoothly?

I mostly play MW2, World of Warcraft and Overwatch, and it's the only game I've been on. Some folks say it's on the end, which makes sense because it worked well before the Season 2 Reloaded update. My setup is basic—Ryzen 5 3600 CPU and an RX 570 4GB GPU, and I’m thinking about upgrading soon. So far, everything’s fine except for occasional high ping, which has stopped. Activision hasn’t replied to my messages in a couple of weeks, even after I asked for an update, so I’m feeling quite frustrated.

Likely there was significant underperformance due to buffer issues with shaders on 4GB VRAM systems. Configurations with 4GB of GPU memory are now considered outdated, especially for modern games. The value of 4GB VRAM has diminished since around 2023, making it mainly useful for streaming or recording rather than actual gameplay. This reflects a deliberate decline in support for budget gaming hardware that was inevitable by then.

True that game patches can significantly impact performance on some graphics cards. Many players experience this problem, and numerous titles require updates to resolve these issues. Updates may address various aspects of a game engine or even slow it down if developers adjust graphics options.

With each update, I’m hoping the problem will disappear, but it feels like it’s not going to happen after everything has been delayed. I plan to upgrade my GPU—likely getting a new motherboard and CPU once I receive my paycheck.
