Hey, I'm experiencing some odd problems lately. Since today, gaming only seems to freeze after a short session—even though the stress test ran for 15 minutes without any issues. In CS:GO, I can disconnect from the server and quit through the console, but with Fall Guys it's different; the game loads but freezes again when the loading screen appears, even though I feel the haptic feedback. Restarting seems to fix the problem. I've noticed my screen occasionally goes black for a second, and sometimes I see black lines on the background, which hasn't happened before. Also, yesterday I checked my PC to see if my cooler was the newer Hyper 212 LED version I wanted to install. I'm worried it might have been damaged by removing just the fan, not the whole cooler. I fear this could be related to my CPU or motherboard since I recently bought a new GPU and haven't upgraded yet. I've only tried restarting and adjusting my MSI afterburner settings, but nothing changed. My PC parts are listed below, and my PSU is a Cooler Master MasterWatt Lite 500W 230V. I'm concerned about the PSU rating—it's outdated for my budget. All components except the RAM were purchased in January 2018, except this month's RAM. My system runs Windows 10 with all drivers updated. Just a note: my RAM is 3200MT, but my motherboard doesn't support that speed, which might be why it's slower than expected. I haven't touched the GPU or PCIe slot, though I'm afraid I might have stressed it or damaged the PCIe connector accidentally. I hope this isn't CPU/motherboard related, especially since I ordered a new GPU and plan to wait for the next generation.

Sure, I can attempt to reduce the graphics settings within the game.

I adjusted my graphics settings to low on fall guys, turned off the MSI afterburner, and the issue disappeared Big Grin. Still puzzled about why it worked—after all, I've been playing CSGO at those settings for four years with the same machine, and I don’t see a high graphical demand. I’ll check again tomorrow to confirm if it was the afterburner or just the graphics. I’m going to sleep it’s resolved, thanks for your help!

Your processor is five years old. With ongoing game updates, performance might lag compared to previous speeds. Updates for Windows 10 can also cause applications to run slower. I’m using an Intel 7700k and experience sluggishness with games that use Unreal Engine, such as Mass Effect: Legendary Edition and Hell Let Loose. I plan to upgrade soon. Previously, upgrading from a 7600k was a minor change for around $100. The latest Unreal Engine is quite resource-heavy. There are other adjustments or tips that could improve things.
