I have a customized version of Skyrim on my external hard drive, allowing me to play it on my laptop while traveling. Recently, an error occurred. The game appears stuck in borderless fullscreen mode, which causes performance problems on my laptop by forcing it to run at 3200x1600 resolution, resulting in very low frames per second. This issue didn’t appear on my desktop, where the screen is 1440p and performance is better. I recall a mod that enabled borderless fullscreen for quick app switching, but even after removing it and setting the .ini files to fullscreen, the game still starts in borderless mode. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sure, give it a shot by pressing alt + enter. It might help you see what changes are available. If needed, adjust the launcher settings and try again. It could be that the mod isn’t fully removed yet. Check for any files the mod installed and move them elsewhere manually if possible.

Alt didn't do anything, and I've already checked the .ini files to confirm fullscreen is active. The launcher only alters settings in skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini. I'll look into which files the mod changed to see if Nexus Mod Manager actually removed it.

NMM is the top choice for Nexus, yet Mod Organizer is worth considering. MO employs a virtual drive that activates with each Skyrim session and safeguards your settings. Copy your Skyrim.ini and prefs.ini to your desktop folder. Remove them. Launch Skyrim and allow it to regenerate the files.

I have the revision tool set up with specific configurations in the ini files. I'm going to test it out and observe the results.

It appears the same configuration exists in the updated .ini files.

I’d review the uninstall process of the module and determine whether it affects core files.

Reviewed the documentation for the mod and saw the files still lingered in skyrim/data/skse/plugins even after uninstalling. Removing them resolved the issue, allowing the game to launch in fullscreen at 60 fps.

It was probably the latest version available for that platform.

It was merely described as a single adjustment. There wasn’t much detail about the Skyrim Nexus. It enabled the game to operate in an open, borderless full-screen mode, and included small changes such as deleting the Bathesda logo during startup.
