Game freezes unexpectedly and displays error codes.
Hi, I've experienced some unpredictable BSODs and game crashes after upgrading my system components. Previously, enabling the expo profile caused choppy performance, even affecting mouse movement. After updating the BIOS to the latest version, more problems emerged—realizing it was a beta release led me to revert and install a stable version. I then upgraded to the newest stable build on MSI’s site to fix headphone/mic buzzing, which helped temporarily.
However, recent crashes have become more frequent during gameplay (MW2 and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands). While not full system failures, the games would stop after about 10 minutes or sometimes up to 30 minutes. I ran a memory diagnostic and found RAM errors, so I tested each stick separately. Both passed individually in the second slot (as recommended by MSI), but when combined they also succeeded.
At this point, I suspect the issue might be related to improper seating of the RAM modules. Once it was stable, I left it alone. But last night and today I faced full crashes and BSODs again. I ran Memtest86, which showed 2 out of 4 failures on test #8, with all other tests passing. I rechecked each stick individually on test #8—everything passed—and then tested both together, which also succeeded.
In the Windows Event Viewer it mentioned a bugcheck as the cause, along with some additional details. My system is Windows 10 Home Edition 64 Bit. The OS was originally installed as an OEM version (pre-installed) or a full retail version (bought from a retailer). I purchased a digital license. The hardware age varies; the oldest parts are from 2017 (PSU, storage, fans, case). The OS was installed in 2017 and I reset it last week for CPU troubleshooting.
I have three HDDs and two M.2 SSDs (one missing from BIOS since the upgrade). New components include a Ryzen 7600, Tomahawk B650 MOBO, Kingston Fury Beast 5600 DDR5, and an AG400 CPU cooler. The system manufacturer is Me? I don’t know if it’s a laptop or desktop. Desktop isn’t listed in the hardware inventory.
I recently downloaded dump files from https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OsCJ94_...sp=sharing but they didn’t help much. I’m not sure if faulty memory is the issue or something else—CPU, motherboard, or even the PSU might be overloaded.
I tried generating a perfmon report, but it just said “generating data for 60s” for an hour without progress. Given how unpredictable these crashes are, I’m not sure if the problem is with my RAM or elsewhere (CPU, motherboard, or power supply). I hope someone can help me sort this out. Thanks for your time!
Your problem appears comparable to mine too; I've also recently upgraded to Zen 4. From what you mentioned, it might be the BIOS update that's causing the issue. I'll attempt to flash the BIOS to revert to the factory-installed version.
It looks like the expo profiles might not be functioning well, possibly due to memory or BIOS issues. It's tricky to pinpoint the cause since it can vary—memory works sometimes, while BIOS or motherboard problems can appear intermittently.
