Occasionally, pressing alt+tab into Skyrim causes the game to crash unexpectedly. This worries me because it could happen anytime, so I'm looking for a solution. Additionally, there are rare instances where the game freezes, requiring me to use ctrl+alt+delete, sign out, and then log back in.

Sure try the unofficial patch—it fixes a few bugs and adds more features.

Consider playing inside a window. A mod for a borderless windowed game existed but is now removed or deleted. Edit: other comparable mods are available, though their effectiveness and safety on saved game files aren't clear.

They mentioned using OneTweak, but OneWeak causes a CTD on the loading screen.

I'm going to test it out (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36177/) and let me know if you need updates. EDIT: I encountered some issues. Any advice?

You're running out of ideas about modded Skyrim. The best advice I can give is to save quickly and then use Steam Overlay—it's a safe way to manage your progress without risking anything else.
