I recently upgraded my motherboard to the MSI Z690 Tomahawk DDR4 Wifi and the I9 12900k. Everything functioned properly until I attempted to launch a game. The icon appeared in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, then disappeared instantly without launching. When trying a different game inside Steam, the same issue occurred. I removed my GPU (MSI 2070 Super) and reinstalled everything, but nothing changed. I took the GPU out and used integrated graphics, still encountering the same problem. After performing a Windows recovery install and saving files, the outcome remained unchanged. I also tried loading games as an administrator, which yielded the same result. I attempted to uninstall certain applications reported in forums as causing similar issues, such as MSI Afterburner, but it didn’t help. My Windows updates were current, and all other drivers were up to date. I suspect the problem might be related to the new hardware, though I’m not sure.

Just completed a clean installation. Performed a quick Windows update and refreshed my GPU drivers. I downloaded one game for testing, but it still wouldn’t boot. Swapping all RAM didn’t resolve the issue.

Event log details:
- Faulting application name: launcher.exe_SWTOR Launcher, version: 3.2.6.0, timestamp: 0x528d292a
- Faulting module name: dataexchange.dll, version: 10.0.19041.1387, timestamp: 0x8ca968b5
- Exception code: 0xc0000005
- Fault offset: 0x0000e402
- Faulting process id: 0x328c
- Faulting application start time: 0x01d81e23d457643d
- Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\launcher.exe
- Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\dataexchange.dll
- Report Id: 302a98e3-83b2-406a-b79e-8809534458ec

I tried loading games as an administrator, but the result was identical. I also removed some apps mentioned in forums that supposedly affect game launches, like MSI Afterburner, yet it didn’t help.

I notice you're asking about trying a different game post-clean install.

I then accessed Steam and attempted to play another game. Identical outcome.

Have you completed a complete system overhaul and installation? Did you also add the chipset driver for your motherboard? Then you installed Steam, followed by downloading a game? Still facing issues?

Are there any additional problems like crashes or freezes?
