Game crashes while streaming video unexpectedly.
Hey everyone, I’m facing a really odd problem. For some time now, my PC has randomly lost video—sometimes audio works, like when playing games or watching videos, but the screen stays blank. Occasionally both video and audio vanish, yet the RGB lights stay on, fans spin, and the machine seems to be operating normally. I’m frustrated because I just got a new computer.
At first, I assumed it was an installation issue. I installed an MSI Spatium M.2 SSD and set up Windows, but the problem persisted. Then I considered the timing: working from home 15-16 hours a day while gaming 8-10 hours daily. Eventually, I upgraded to a 4090 GPU a few weeks ago, but it still didn’t fix things. I tried cleaning the GPU drivers multiple times, but nothing helped.
I thought maybe the power supply was failing or too weak, so I switched to an Asus Thor 1200W PSU. It kept the system running, but the issue continued. Then I upgraded my motherboard and BIOS, even flashing the BIOS repeatedly, but it didn’t resolve the problem.
Recently, I bought a Ryzen 9 7950X3D, an X670e-A motherboard, and a Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR5 32GB RAM stick. I thought everything was sorted after a week, but today I turned on the PC, checked Jira for updates, and before a meeting, went to the bathroom. When I returned, my computer had no video, though the motherboard was still powered on. It took about ten minutes for it to restart properly.
The graphics card never exceeded 550W, and temperatures stayed normal according to HWinfo64. No signs of overheating. Still, the issue keeps happening. I’m wondering if the PSU or another component might be struggling. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
