Hey everyone, first-world troubles here. My brother’s system won’t let me play Crysis 1. I’ve tried reinstalling it multiple times, but it always crashes before reaching the EA splash screen. Got any ideas on how to fix this? His specs are pretty standard—CPU is an AMD FX-8350 with an eight-core processor running at 3.5 GHz, heatsink is a basic one, motherboard is Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 ATX, RAM is Corsair Dominator 16GB DDR3 at 1600 MHz (now at 1333 MHz), 12GB Klevv Urbane is installed, and he’s got a WD Black 1TB HDD and a WD Caviar SE 250GB HDD. He’s using an overclocked GTX 750 Ti card and a Corsair 900D case. The power supply is Corsair AX1200i, and he’s running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. I figured it worked fine on his laptop, so I’m not sure what went wrong here. Any tips?

I believe Crysis includes SecuROM in its release, while Windows 10 and SecuROM seem to conflict.

You can locate the SecuROM in the system's configuration directory, typically found at `/etc/secrom`.

This could be the solution you were looking for. The guide suggests checking for safedisc or securom DRM settings on Windows 10, 8.1, 8, and Vista to unlock the game properly.

I'll attempt the second approach. I don't enjoy breaking games and oppose any unauthorized media use.

Well, that's understandable.

I looked through the File Explorer and located the SecuROM DAT and TMP files. Additionally, I have a Crysis 1 copy saved from a few months back.

Crysis versions typically include SecuROM by default. You’d need to turn on the service again, unfortunately.

Open Command Prompt and navigate to the AppData directory to enable SecuROM activation.

Use Run by pressing the Windows key and R for quicker access, unless you require the command prompt. Type "%AppData%" into the Run dialog.
