I've noticed this issue for a couple of months now. Sometimes when I start, stop, or use the alt-tab, my monitor freezes while the audio stays on and the mouse works fine. I just assembled a new PC with fresh components except for the hard drives and RAM, hoping to find a solution. I'm trying to figure out what might be causing it, assuming I've already checked possible causes. If I'm stuck, I'll consider replacing the drives and RAM. Thanks!
GPU: Gigabyte 3070 8GB OC CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 2x8GB
Model: rog strix b550-f cooling
CPU Cooler: cooler master ML240L AIO PSU: evga supernova 750W 80+ gold
HDD: seagate barracuda 2TB SSD
Motherboard: ssd: samsung 970 evo 500GB M.2

Possible RAM problem, but if no BSODs appear, it's probably not.

It seems this has occurred before I set up my computer too. Even with the latest drivers on my previous build, it kept happening. A fresh PC with updated drivers still experiences it, which suggests a possible RAM problem.

You're unsure about the next steps after setting up a brand-new PC, which can feel confusing. It might help to consider other possibilities like Windows issues, and you could try a complete system reset by wiping your drives if the freezing persists.

RAM checks are straightforward using Memtest. However, the storage devices mentioned seem outdated. Are you using the same drive for the software involved earlier? And does it support HDD or SSD technology?

I store it on an SSD and also have another one that's an HDD.

Except for Memtest results, I’d suggest the SSD is likely the issue.
