Go for it if you have the time. I haven't messed with the C-states yet myself (but considering this happened with a different motherboard from another manufacturer I doubt that's the issue, still worth trying). I haven't found anything in the event viewer at the time of the crash either. I use it in 4.0 but I have tested with 3.0 as well, didn't make a difference. There's no VBIOS update for the TUF 6800 XT, confirmed by Asus. Have you contacted Asus support for an RMA yet? The more reports the get about this the quicker they'll probably look into the issue.
I didn't. At first I struggled mainly with Cyberpunk 2077, known for its inconsistent quality. My setup seemed to edge too close to the limits because of these choices:
- Chose an X470 with AMD 5000 (only available on Beta BIOS at the time).
- Used a PSU with the lowest wattage, originally bought with a 3070 but ended up getting a 6800XT due to limited stock and VAG program.
- The PSU had problems with higher draw cards; my should be fixed since older units were affected, and I noticed a note about no material pouch in early 2020.
- Tried a DDR4 kit at 3600 despite the R5600X being technically better at 3200, and it wasn’t included in the QVL for my motherboard.
- Experienced a few crashes in Valheim later, but far fewer than on CP2077.
Now this crash on the menu is an extra issue, lasting under 30 minutes with Furmark + Prime95...
I just noticed the alert and glanced at the chat. The only problem I faced with the card was with Cyberpunk on Windows. That caused the whole system to shut down completely. Keep in mind it happened during summer, with high temperatures, no air conditioning, and after hours of nonstop gameplay. I thought it might be overheating, and fixing it involved lowering the voltage slightly. My PSU is an RM750x – just a note. Since then I’ve moved to Linux without any issues with other games. I’m hoping I can find a way to recreate some of the results shared here. UPDATE: I ran "the Halo title screen test" using the settings you mentioned, and everything else @stock with XMP enabled for about an hour without any crashes. I experimented with the settings and ran FurMark briefly, but it didn’t crash. So unless it happens by accident while another program runs, I’m unlikely to help much. One odd observation is how much Halo Infinite uses the GPU on the title screen – I was seeing over 90% usage, with power spikes above 300W. That’s a lot for just menus, static images, and flying birds, so something seems off here. Edited January 26, 2022 by MildIrritant Update
