Up to now every attempt I made worked smoothly. A few, such as CS:GO, still have confusing menus. Still, the game itself is okay.

The majority of the games I've played work well. A few have offered partial support, and for those that don't support 21:9, Flawless Widescreen is available.

Usually people use it right out of the box. Make sure your system has enough power. For a 3440x1440, a GTX970 or higher is suggested.

I've got the GTX 970 ready, but I'm holding off until I get the GTX 1070 to compare its performance.

I own a Titan X with a 21:9 display from LG. Almost all games I've played work great on it, often handling the 21:9 ratio smoothly without any problems. The only minor hiccup is with titles like CS:GO and RUST, which instead of using extra pixels, tend to stretch out. A few games with menus or interfaces also struggle, placing everything at the edges and sometimes showing black bars during cutscenes or menus, similar to Rust or GTA: V.

it's the sole contemporary title I'm aware of that doesn't include it.

lol which game? BOIII is fine with it. BOII is also okay (those are the only two I've played lately). Search "ultra wide gaming forum" and you'll find answers about support. Most people say support is solid now. Metal Gear Solid was unsupported for Phantom Pain or Ground Zero at launch, but modders fixed Ground Zero and even Konami patched Phantom Pain without mods. Fallout 4 started off uncertain but got Native support. I played 21:9 for a while and really enjoyed it, still do now and then, but mostly use surround sound on my 24" TV. If that doesn't work, I switch to my accessory monitor or center surround. But nowadays that's rare.
