Considering the download, I'm curious about the current player base and the difficulty of accessing it. Also, what are the costs involved for winning?

It's simple yet challenging at the same time. I use it on my phone, but I'm not sure how it works on a PC.

Well, it really depends on what you mean by "get into" the game. You can jump right in and play easily. You begin with bots before gradually meeting real players. Keep in mind, the experience is much better if you're ready to spend money for premium time and invest in top ships. As for earning 2 wins, that definitely matters. There are some premium ships that are extremely powerful, but most of the weaker ones are resource gatherers—ships you can earn yourself, not just paid for. The game demands a fair amount of skill. You need to decide when to use heavy weapons versus anti-air, prioritize targets, understand armor values to position yourself effectively, and know where to aim enemies. It’s also quite demanding in terms of grinding, but the economy improves with premium time. Is it fun? If you enjoy warships, you’ll love it.

The main point to note is that World of Warships offers minimal rewards for success. Most achievements require a premium membership. While there are some premium-exclusive ships and missions, other options provide similar or better performance. It's quite accessible to start. Even my father, who had no prior experience with PC gaming, joined and began with multiplayer against AI (Co-Op) before tackling random matches. Beyond tier 6 ships (up to ten levels), the experience can feel repetitive; premium can boost XP and credits from those sessions.

I once logged in and earned a lot of credits, but before that I had a good amount since I worked really hard without spending any money in the game.

I've been playing this for a few years now, and it's not too challenging right now. It feels quite simple and calming because the pace is slow. Some players get bored easily, though. It's generally considered P2W, and while top-tier ships can be strong, you'll still face trouble if you're not skilled. Personally, I haven't invested any real money, but I'm doing better than average—around a 57% win rate. From what I've noticed, those who complain about P2W are usually the ones who struggle with the game itself (you can see this in their stats), and those who mention hacking are typically really bad at the game. So neither issue seems significant. Economically, I'm in a solid spot even without premium time, which mainly boosts XP and credits by 65%. If you're planning to create an account, I suggest getting an invite code from someone else—it offers some advantages for both you and your invitee.

It's an enjoyable activity to engage in... although I don't play it frequently at the moment, I spend nearly every day on World of Tanks... I really enjoy that title. The main drawback with World of Warships is that the gameplay can become sluggish when your fleet is reduced and you're spread across the map.

I think JayzTwoCents occasionally promotes them, and Linus also does.

This could be a good use of my 1.2 TB monthly data allowance from Comcast. I'm trying to get back into gaming again. I've watched some YouTube videos about this title, but they don't fully cover the story. I just know that free-to-play games aren't always great. This one doesn't seem to be a good fit. Back in my day, I was really into Combat Arms, but hackers have messed with that game quite a bit.

Upgrading ships usually requires premium resources. The game doesn’t feel overly repetitive until you reach around the 7-ship mark. Winning isn’t necessarily about grinding; tactics matter more, and collaboration with your team is essential. Understanding armor penetration mechanics is crucial because different hits impact enemy ships differently in terms of HP loss. For example, a penetrating AP shot that hits the core can cause massive damage—once I landed one such shot on cruisers with a battleship—but targeting just the bow too much may only chip away minimal health.
