Gaining support for the Tomb Raider crash situation
Made a post about this on steam, haven't got any responses yet. So about last night I got to this point where the game crashes. It's at the soviet installation (about 15% game completion mark) after Lara is captured and she escapes with that one man, getting separated and going to meet at the train yard. When i get to the train yard and get to the cut scene of the guy fighting another with a knife and after that a chopper comes in and attacks you. After the cut scene the game always crashes saying "Corrupt texture data passed into PCDX11Texture constructor!" I tried reloading the autosave and it crashes again. I tried loading a save a few minutes before that but when I get to that point it crashes again. I tried it one more time, this time skipping the cutscene, thinking maybe that's the problem, but it happened again. Playing on Windows 10. Maybe that's the problem? I remember when MGS Phantom Pain came out I pretty much had to dual boot with 8.1 cause it would not load at all at a certain part for me with windows 10.
I checked the cache and noticed two files were missing. Now it’s starting to download a 2GB amount of data. I’m not sure how the missing files ended up there—never opened the game folder before. It took me about six minutes to finish the download before I could try it out.
I resumed the process, reducing graphics settings to their minimum. A friend mentioned this might improve performance. It seems the game isn’t running well optimized. With a 4790k at 4.5ghz and a GTX 980, I still achieve the same frame rate—35 to 50 fps—even at the lowest settings.
