Checked the offer on G2A and found it legitimate. Explored how to obtain Windows 8.1 from that site, especially for my upcoming build. It seems you’d need to download it to a flash drive rather than just using the link directly. Thanks!

I've never purchased Windows from G2A, yet I've bought games without any issues. If anything fails, you can simply dispute the chargeback.

I purchased a key around a year ago and it functioned properly initially. Since I didn’t develop a strong preference for it, I switched back to Windows 7. A year later, I handed it over to a friend, and it seems Microsoft has deactivated the key. To stay protected, make sure you have the G2A shield installed.

G2A functions as a Grey Market seller. They don't run a fully legitimate operation, even if they fulfill their commitments. This practice goes against the terms of service and is viewed as unethical. It’s similar to how someone takes advantage of efforts to make Windows accessible in developing regions and then resells it elsewhere. Likewise with /r/softwareswap—it feels like a person who received free food from a soup kitchen bought it for cash, only to be turned away again. This exploits a system meant to assist those in need.
