I’m checking out Farcry 4 on G2A. Even a 20% discount on Steam isn’t enough. I can get it straight from G2A for $39.65. I have two questions: 1) Should I still use the G2A shield if I buy directly from them? 2) Are they really trustworthy? I’ve noticed some concerns when visiting their site lately—something feels off. Thanks!

They purchase keys in regions with lower costs. Let's skip the ethical side here; I'll decide it myself later.
It could be similar to purchasing a car from eBay, which might sometimes have its serial number altered... There are generally more positive exchanges than negative ones on G2A, and buying directly from them avoids the need for G2A protection. I've purchased several titles from them, such as FC4, without any problems.
I'm sure it was more affordable during the Steam sale at one time. I think I bought it then, assuming I got it directly from G2A—not a marketplace—so you wouldn't need to use it. However, it could be useful for peace of mind. Personally, I don’t fully trust it; there have been cases of stolen keys being sold, and with Steam tightening rules on cheap Russian or third-world keys, some might not work properly. I’ve also seen friends face issues like delayed deliveries or receiving incorrect keys.
I received fast delivery from them, but I’ve encountered issues where I won a giveaway and got a code from G2A that was already used. My friend bought ArmA 3 off and after three months the game vanished from his library, taking about a month to recover it as well.
However, I assumed the G2A shield was meant for marketplace purchases. I wondered if it wouldn't be necessary when buying directly from G2A since it comes from them. I find the idea of sharing your screen with them really annoying.
It might be better to skip it since the chance is low—spending £0.80 instead of £25 feels risky, and a non-working code adds more worry.
