Hello everyone, I’m just starting to explore overclocking my RAM. My current setup is a G-Skill Trident Z DDR4-3200 kit, which I found on Newegg. I was expecting it to run at 3200MHz, but after adjusting the system clock to 1.1v and setting the RAM voltage to 1.35v, I experienced a sudden shutdown. The PC would restart a few times before freezing in BIOS. Eventually, I had to reset it back to default and then booted again at 2133MHz. The blue screen and error code kept appearing, making it hard to get stable performance. I’m worried this might affect my system’s stability. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Two problems could be at play: the motherboard might not support the memory (x470/b450 had issues above 3000) or you might have switched to a Hynix chip which could cause performance issues. It’s possible the hardware is outdated for modern RAM, or the board itself isn’t compatible. You might be using a very old system, like a 3800x with Gskill 3600 MHz RAM, but it often freezes or won’t boot properly.
I believe it could be the Hynix Die C16. I know someone who sells the same RAM but C14 at a better price. The issue is that Newegg won’t refund my full payment if I return the items I already have.
I can operate two sticks at 3200 with XMP Profile 1, but not four.
