I recently overclocked my fx6300 to 4ghz and it performed well in Cinebench, staying under 45c throughout. For further performance gains, I plan to push it more often during gaming and rendering tasks. I’m unsure whether to try more overclocking or invest in a better cooling solution first. I currently have only basic cooling components from my N200 case and a less expensive cooler than the stock one.

It's okay as long as it stays below 45C at 4Ghz while fully loaded. Keep going!

45C It's really nice for the FX 6300 when overclocked (its max is 70,50) you can try pushing it further, but there are more factors involved than just temperature. The voltage matters too, and you need to check if your motherboard supports such an overclock. If you haven't had any issues so far, it's safe to proceed.
