You might have made a mistake. Your laptop is running at 2400MHz while your motherboard supports 2666MHz, which means the CPU won’t utilize the full potential of your RAM. It’s best to upgrade to a compatible 8GB DDR4 2666MHz module.

Shifting focus to CPUs, motherboards, and RAM—my understanding is unclear. Have you increased the memory in any of these setups?

I saw a post before where someone upgraded from 4 to 8, and you're upgrading from 8 to 16. I'm checking if you should get a 2666mhz stick since your current one is at 2400mhz.

For best results, use matching sticks. Usually it's okay to combine them, and a higher frequency dimmer will operate smoothly at a lower speed.

It depends on compatibility. Your current setup uses DDR4 at 2666MHz, and adding another DDR4 at 2400MHz might work if both modules support that frequency. Check the specifications to ensure they match or are compatible.
