Hi everyone! I’m using an fx-8320e CPU and managed to manually overclock it to 4.0 GHz without the AMD Turbo Core enabled. It performed well initially, but I’ve read that with a core voltage between 1.3 and 1.35V, you can easily reach around 4.2 GHz. In the BIOS I set the multiplier to x21 and the Vcore to about 1.3V. After restarting, both BIOS and Windows display 4200MHz, while the hardware monitor only shows 2.8 GHz. It seems the system is capped at 2.8 GHz after overclocking! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day!

Overclocked using a tool or BIOS?
BIOS must be updated directly; never modify Windows.
Consider reducing the overclock level, as the motherboard or CPU might be throttling because of heat (VRM or CPU).

I discovered a fix. The real issue was about keeping it cool and quiet.

Cool and quiet is amd's fan control that can reduce the speed similarly to Intel's speed step technology.
