Has anyone used the FX 8320/8320e with GTA V? It’s good for core count and power handling. Let me know if you’re thinking about getting one!

It functions properly, but it would be better to choose an i5.

The 8350 handles the game well overall. At normal speeds it may experience slight lag during intense battles and busy city scenes at dusk. Adjusting its speed settings resolves these issues. The 8320 behaves similarly after overclocking, though it trades some multitasking capabilities for better performance. It’s decent for gaming but not the top choice if you need maximum efficiency across tasks. The 8350 is about 43% quicker with all eight cores compared to a comparable 4460 model.

If you're concerned about costs, consider upgrading to an i3 4340 in GTA V.

GTA 5 features a scenario where an 8320 outperforms an i3... It leverages every core for maximum performance.

surprisingly, this is actually quite right. Gta 5 uses almost every thread you can throw at it, easily chomping through 8 thread cpus, and even kind of decently well on 12 thread cpus. the game is remarkably well optimized for multicore setups, just a little more evidence that games are using more and more cores as times goes on. Great for people like me who like their cores!

I'm running the Fx-8320 at stock clocks with a gtx 970. I'm seeing consistent 60fps at 1080p on top settings, though occasionally the frames drop to the 50s without any stutter. All eight cores are active and usage stays above 70%. The latest Rockstar patch has reduced performance, but it should be fixed in the next update.
