FX - 8320 Overclock
I've installed my AMD FX-8320 Black Edition at 4.8ghz with core voltage set to 1.450. My temperatures are Idle: 50 Full Load: 79. The setup includes an Aerocool Aero-500 case with two Corsair Quiet Edition High Airflow units on top, two more on the front, and a single stock aerocool fan at the back. I'm using a CoolerMaster Hyper TX3 EVO CPU cooler. Should I upgrade to a liquid cooler or will my temperatures remain stable?
As Thebigwerewolf mentioned, those load temperatures are significantly too high, particularly given the voltage. It seems you may have used the thermal paste incorrectly or didn’t secure the cooler properly. Avoid the “pea drop and go” technique with Cooler Master coolers—they’re grooved and the paste won’t stay in place. Apply a pea-sized amount to your CPU, spread it evenly with a razor blade before installing the heatsink. Secure the heatsink tightly (hand tight plus a 3/4 turn). Your 8320 is currently running at 4.8 Ghz and 1.56 Voltage, with a maximum temperature of 62°C using an H100 liquid cooler.
The load temperature is significantly too high for the FX chips. Ideal maximum temperatures are: CPU Cores - 62°C, CPU Socket - 72°C.
Search for a reliable OC with reduced voltage, also let me know your motherboard model. Gigabyte 990XA-UD3
