FX 6300 Overclocking non black edition
Hey, I'm thinking about getting an FX 6300 but am a bit puzzled about choosing between a black edition or a regular non-black one with a stock cooler. Can the standard version be overclocked normally, or should I go for the black edition to get the best performance? I'd prefer not to overclock too much—maybe around 4.1 GHz turbo. What do you think? Thanks! 😀
There is only a "Black edition". AMD simply indicates that the CPU is unlocked and prepared for use. You can still overclock this processor. Increasing it to 4.1 will provide a modest improvement. Reaching 4.5Ghz+ marks the point where the CPU becomes more responsive.
The only available option is the "Black edition". AMD uses it to indicate the CPU is unlocked and ready. Yes, you can still overclock with this CPU. Do you mean I can overclock with the standard FX 6300, or am I required to get the black edition for that?
FYI: The FX prefix has replaced the BE (Black Edition). Your 6 core FX-6300 is an unlocked multiplier CPU, matching the earlier AMD "Black Edition" models. AMD previously offered a 6 core line based on their original quad-core BEs, such as the Thuban core X6 CPUs, which were also identified as unlocked multiplier CPUs.
