Hi, your current setup with the FX-6300 at 3.5ghz and a hypertx3 with a GTX970 on an Evga 500B PSU seems stable. If you aim to overclock the CPU to between 4-4.3ghz, you may need to upgrade your PSU.

Hi, I currently have an FX-6300 at 3.5ghz with a hypertx3 and a GTX970 on an EVGA 500b PSU. I'm wondering if I should change my CPU to overclock it between 4-4.3ghz? Thanks!
You won't need to modify your CPU, but whether you can overclock the FX-6300 depends on your cooling setup.
The hypertx3 might work with your setup, but there won't be much room for improvement. With good AIO liquid cooling, you could potentially reach up to 4.5GHz.

What? Are you asking if you need to modify your CPU for overclocking????
No need to worry, all FX CPUs are compatible with unlocked configurations.
If you're referring to your power supply, it should be fine.

Yeah, I think the PSU part is okay.

The tx3 might only reach 4ghz under certain conditions with normal temperatures. Overclocking will largely depend on your motherboard type, so what’s the deal?
