FX-6300 OC Question
FX-6300 OC Question
I'm adjusting the settings on an FX 6300 (ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2) that's running around 2017 specs. At 4.7 Ghz/1.45v, my CPU core reached a max of 65.6°C and the socket hit 72°C before stabilizing at 71°C. Using prime 95 and an open hardware monitor, should I stop it now?
Are you satisfied with the performance on the CPU? The temperatures seem a bit high for AMD, just for me. Actually, my new case fans arrived today. With them, I managed to keep the socket at 69°C during a 4.8Ghz test run for an hour. When gaming, the socket stays under 50°C and the core remains below 60°C (usually around 45-50). That should be fine, right? What cooling solution are you using for the chip? I wouldn't want my AMD to reach such high temperatures.

Actually, today my new case fans arrived. With them, I managed to maintain the socket temperature at 69°C during a 4.8Ghz run for an hour. During gaming, the socket stays under 50°C and the core remains below 60°C (generally around 45-50).
That should be fine, right?

What cooling solution are you using for the chip? I wouldn't risk my AMD going that high.
I'm planning to lower it to around 4.6Ghz.
The temperatures are within acceptable ranges. Using a Zalman CNPS9900MAX cooler with an FX8350 in an M5A88-M setup, it maintains around 60-61°C with all eight cores operating at maximum for more than an hour during video conversions. The system climbs quickly then stabilizes near 60-61°C, which is not an issue. For the FX4100, what is its maximum factory temperature?
