FX-6300 OC Issues
FX-6300 OC Issues
Hello Everyone,
I’ve made an fx-6300 OC to 4.5 GHZ using an msi 970 mobo and a hyper 212 evo. When I run prime95, temperatures stay stable and there are no errors during the test. However, sometimes when I restart my computer, it reports that the OC profile failed. If I load the same profile again after restarting, it works properly once more? Does this indicate a significant problem with the OC profile failing?
Hello friend. It seems your RAM can't match the overclock of your CPU, causing a failure during startup. I suggest reducing the RAM multiplier by one point or lowering the timings as follows.

RAM tends to perform best with higher voltage, so push it all the way up to 1.75 (the maximum) to maintain stability. Also, avoid setting your HT link too high. The 6300 model seems to prefer a clock speed of 2400mhz.
I've been overclocking FX for five years and have used three different CPUs: 8320, 8350, and 6300. The optimal overclock results come from using bus speed plus the multiplier. This works because bus speed overclocks the CPU northbirdge, which in turn boosts L2 Cache speed—improving single-core performance. Also, raise the Northbridge frequency to between 2400-2600Mhz.
