Fx 6300
Fx 6300
I owned the FX 6100. I understand the FX 6300 offers some improvements, but honestly it’s not that significant. I really disliked that chip. Performance dropped to 30 fps in Battlefield 4, and around 20 frames per second in games like Crysis 3 and Witcher 2. All of this was running on a 780, which back then was top-of-the-line.
It would work fine but isn't the best choice unless you're using multi-threaded programs. Generally, FX isn't a good option for gaming either.
If you're purchasing a new system, I'd suggest Intel—though I wouldn't go for the Pentium. Unlike some opinions in this discussion, the 6300 performs well and won’t cause a bottleneck with a 270X. I own both a 280x and a 6300, and my gaming/work PCs run smoothly. My FPS stays solid in BF4 multiplayer maps with 64 players (around 50-60 FPS, sometimes dropping into the high 40s, but rarely).
I own a 6300 with a large CM air cooler and a Sapphire 270x featuring 8 GB of RAM. The system performs excellently. Games such as Skyrim (highly modded) run smoothly on ultra settings. In fact, none of my components exceed 40°C even after a full day of gaming. I haven’t pushed it beyond 1920x1080 since that’s my native refresh rate, but there are no issues whatsoever. Power usage isn’t a concern as long as the games run well. I’ll stick with what I have.
