Hi everyone, I was wondering if an i7 13th gen, RTX 4070 and 32GB RAM would still be suitable in the future. That’s roughly what I can afford right now to upgrade from an i7 7th gen, GTX 1080 and 16GB RAM. I don’t play a lot of games—just The Sims 4, Dreamlight Valley and Sea of Thieves. Not a big AAA+ gamer, though Hogwarts Legacy seems pretty good.

I have a setup very much like this with a 13700K and a 4070TI. It will definitely be a good option for the coming years, without any doubt. From our previous tests, the 14700K doesn<|pad|>'s be quite similar to what we have now. Intel tends to update this every time a new generation of motherboards comes out. If you want something that can handle a few more CPU upgrade cycles, I'd recommend focusing on a build with a Ryzen 7800X3D. AM5 is expected to be around for a while, and the Ryzen 8000 is just around the corner early next year.

I am just not sure why you would go for a 4070 or 4070 ti when a 7800xt or 7900xt is cheaper (or the same price) as the 4070 and 4070 ti respectively. Unless you absolutely need Nvdia, I don't see the point in going with Nvidia given what a terrible value for money the 40 series is.

The 7800XT wasn't available when I assembled my setup, and the 7900XT was beyond my budget. Still, I’m sure I’d choose the 7800XT—Power Color or Sapphire—if I were building a new rig today. I own a 7700XT in another machine, which has been performing well so far. In another rig, I plan to install a Sapphire Nitro 7800XT next year.

In a similar situation, I also inquire about the resolution and framerate you're using. Which monitor are you using? The system you refer to is still functional despite its age, and it should handle most games smoothly at 1080/60 with moderate settings. What budget are you managing, and where are you looking to purchase? A few of us here have a solid build and can provide recommendations.
