Hey there, Thunder. I’m sharing my thoughts and any ideas I have. If you have any questions, just let me know. I’ve played a variety of MMO and F2P games like Guild Wars 2, DC Universe, War Thunder, Warframe, ESO, and soon Blade & Soul in the upcoming season. We enjoy these together because we feel the payment system is reasonable. Over time, Guild Wars 2 has become more interesting, so we’re likely moving to Blade & Soul when it launches this winter.
If you’re not familiar with these titles, they’re all MMO experiences. GW2 offers a one-time payment model with a simple in-game shop for items and cosmetics only. B&S is an F2P game that also has a shop and optional premium membership, but spending more doesn’t necessarily mean greater power compared to others. Their currency can be exchanged for real money in the shop, so technically you never need to spend cash.
For our group, this means we can invest hundreds of hours without spending any money, which is really appealing. We’re also willing to buy items from the shop to support the developers—maybe even consider a premium membership if it feels fair.
To sum up, I’m emphasizing that the payment structure should be more balanced. Based on what you’ve shared, $30–$40 for a one-time purchase or $3 a month could work well depending on the value we get. I’d suggest pricing the game around $30 for a single payment and adding a small optional monthly fee for extra perks or cosmetic items. A shop for real currency could also be an option if you manage it well.
This is just my perspective—feel free to adjust based on your vision. Good luck with the project, and I hope your path turns out smoothly!
