My friend recently asked me to assist him with assembling a computer. We completed the build last weekend, but it’s experiencing an issue I’ve never encountered before. Once everything is assembled and Windows 11 installed, the system operates normally. After restarting, the machine freezes when attempting tasks like opening Edge or File Explorer. Initially, I suspected a faulty Windows installation, so we reinstalled using a different flash drive, but that didn’t resolve the problem. Through research, I suspect the BIOS may not support the RAM we installed. My next step is to update the BIOS via the latest version on the GIGABYTES website. You might want to create new W10 and W11 drives using a media creation tool, then perform a clean install via W11. If the problem continues, try using W10 for troubleshooting; if it functions well under 10, you can upgrade to 11. This approach helps identify software problems before checking hardware. Your BIOS limitations shouldn't cause these errors—it usually handles automatic downclocking or disabling unsupported speeds.
