Hello everyone, I'm seeking assistance with an older Windows 7 Pro PC. This machine runs older software and has never needed an upgrade. It's a legally licensed copy that has always functioned well. Recently, the hard drive experienced issues with damaged sectors, so I replaced it with a new one of the same size. I used Arconis to duplicate the drive, which came with the new hardware. After fixing the master boot record, Windows 7 Pro started correctly, except for the activation message. A pop-up appears each time the system boots, warning it's not genuine. This prevents any updates from being applied. I've followed all Microsoft recommendations and checked various forums, including this one, but haven't found a solution that works on my specific setup. It seems there might be an issue with Windows itself, possibly related to registry problems. Please let me know if you can help.

A fresh setup of Windows using your authentic key should fix the problem. It seems the old hard drive might have become damaged, leading to strange behavior. Even though it’s not W7 SP1, that shouldn’t matter. I know W7 RTM stopped receiving support back in 2013, which could be the reason.

it's a w7 pro sp1 model and you're wondering if it can be installed without a clean. it has a 4 tb hdd with about 3.5 tb used, the image you saw online matches what I see, but the status is mixed—some say it's active while others claim it's not genuine.

Apologies for the oversight, I missed adding it to the initial post.

Forget the original setup, reinstall everything. That’s the only option.
