I've faced a peculiar problem over the past six weeks when trying to launch games in full screen. The game typically pauses for about a second before the entire screen turns completely black. I've noticed several unusual patterns during my troubleshooting: My computer has been running in this setup for nearly a year without any prior problems. The issue only appears when my monitors are connected to the Thunderbolt dock. When I switch to the desktop (using Win+D, etc.), the game screen remains black. On my second monitor, if I hover over the game icon in the taskbar and then over its preview for a few seconds, the game appears on the black screen until I interact with it. This happens only when G-sync is active for my graphics cards. The problem disappears if G-sync is disabled, even when using DLSS. I've tested this with and without G-sync in Hogwarts Legacy, Escape from Tarkov, and Minecraft. There are no negative impacts on my work laptop when using the same dock, though I haven't tested it there. Any advice would be appreciated. I suspect G-Sync might be the root cause, so I can resolve it when it occurs. My configuration includes Windows 11 64-bit, an Asus ProArt B550-Creator with a Ryzen 9 5900X, Gigabyte 3070 TI, and several NVMe drives. My dock is a Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe with Thunderbolt 3 support.
