FSX Using only 10% of my GPU Power?
I've just set up Windows 10 on my system and added the FSX game via DVDs. The issue is that the game only uses about 3 to 10% of the GPU power, while the GPU is still operating at full capacity. I'm getting only 30 to 50 frames per second, which is frustrating. I've applied both Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2 for FSX, but it didn't make much difference. The game ran a bit smoother, around 60 FPS, using just 10% of the GPU. Someone might help me, as I suspect the problem relates to Windows 10 and DirectX 12. I'm running a GTX 750 Ti.
FSX is an old game needing roughly 1 GHz per 10 frames from your CPU. It demands minimal power from your graphics card, which is a drawback. Microsoft made a big mistake a decade ago, thinking the GPU would be less crucial than the CPU. At that time, GPUs typically held 64 to 256 MB of RAM. Who could have predicted 12 GB in under ten years? Still, I believe it's time for FSX2. It’s currently only for PCs.
You're referring to a performance that feels sluggish compared to expectations. Despite the hardware being upgraded, it still lags noticeably, especially at higher frame rates. The consistent low to medium refresh rate suggests it's not optimized for fast-paced action. Running it at 75 Hz or more would likely worsen the experience. It's not a game demanding high performance, but it's definitely not ideal either.
