Hi, I'm using FSX and looking for ways to boost my FPS. I have an AMD R9 270 and plan to upgrade to an i7 4790k next year. Right now I'm not using a dedicated NVIDIA GPU, but I want to explore options. My current setup includes an AMD A6-3670K at 2.7GHz, Gigabyte A55-DS2 with 6GB RAM at 1333MHz and two monitors. If you have a similar build or an AMD configuration, let me know how to improve performance before the upgrade.

It's hard to significantly boost your frame rate naturally.

Yes, you can get solid frames with the FX8320 and AMD R9 270.

Yea, the FX-8320 is a pretty good CPU. I have the FX-8320 also paired with an R9 270. I can play BF4 on Ultra preset (1080P), around 45 average FPS.

Reduce the visual quality by lowering AA settings. If applicable, disabling it can help. You might consider boosting your GPU speed, though gains will likely be modest.

Install the DX10 fixer and activate the preview mode. Your frame rate nearly doubled. For top performance in DX9, you’ll need a newer CPU and quicker RAM. Many users are already doing this.
