From Gog to Steam
From Gog to Steam
Hey there, I bought a new graphics card and got a free game (Witcher Wild Hunt). The issue is it's hosted on gog.com, which isn't as good as Steam. Can someone help me get it to Steam? And I don’t want to add the game to my library with a strange setup. Thanks!
Unfortunately, it seems you can't move it. But I'm ready to help...
I meant it refers to a completely free version without restrictions, not a different iteration of Steam.
I’m sure you’re making a joke about the worst version of Steam—no need to download any client or anything, just install the game and it’s ready to go. You don’t have to be online; it works perfectly on your own. It might be better than Steam in some ways, even without the client, but they’re still developing and testing versions. The Steam version usually needs fixes, so most people just download and launch it straight away. Trust me, the QA team at GOG usually tests games before release to make sure everything works smoothly.
It's interesting since many prefer non-DRM formats, and GoG works well with that. Yes, they offer a client, but it's just an optional feature—its main goal is to simplify updates and manage the games you own. If you don't like the client, you're free not to download or use it; you can simply get your games manually and update them as usual, just like with any other game before digital distribution became common.
GoT has great value beyond just their offerings—it shows a solid attitude. Getting it entirely free is impressive, isn't it? That’s better than what Steam provides. They’re really relying on fans to stay honest.
