From a i3 8100 to a ryzen 5 3600, worth it?
Hello everyone, I’m planning to switch from my i3 8100 to a Ryzen 5 3600. I have a GTX 1050 Ti and understand upgrading the graphics would improve performance, but in Italy I’m having trouble finding a good price. I’m considering getting the MSI B550-A Pro with the Ryzen 5 3600, which would cost about 300 euros. Is it worth the investment?
What's the price of the 5600x? If it's not significantly higher, I'd choose that option. A larger jump in IPC isn't necessary since the difference between 8100 and 3600 isn't substantial.
What's the price of the motherboard? If selling old components makes it cost-effective, I'd compare the 8700k or 9700k against a 3600 and a new board. The 5600x is also an option. You might also check eBay for 8700 ES parts if you're on a budget.
