Fried PCIe Chip
It's smart to avoid damaging the board by overloading it. Consider returning it for repair instead of risking further issues.
I’d consider returning it but it exceeds the allowed time frame, and this has already occurred twice before (even though one instance wasn’t identical—how does someone put an 8 and a 6 pin connector on a GPU?). I’m not concerned about discarding it, but for the sake of the component, I wondered if fixing it at home would be feasible. How would you go through the steps to replace these chips?
Nevermind did some more research and its impossible to replace the chips with hand tools. Its a shame that theres no security in place to prevent this from happening.
