Hello everyone, happy new year!
I just installed a new PC so I can give my old one to my girlfriend. While using it, I noticed a burning smell and immediately yelled for help. I quickly unplugged everything and opened the case to check what was burning. I couldn’t find any burned parts except for a faint smell of something from the PSU. When I tried to turn on the PC, it didn’t respond at all. I also connected it to my girlfriend’s PSU, but there was no power detected. My conclusion is that the PSU might have damaged the motherboard, though I’m not sure. I tested my 2 M.2 drives and GPU with hers, everything worked fine, but because of compatibility issues, I couldn’t test the CPU or RAM. I’m unsure if the motherboard is still okay—I’m worried about the CPU or RAM. I’m considering ordering new parts, mainly a replacement PSU and possibly a new motherboard. Is this the right decision?

It's a power supply from a company from my country, which I've been using in my girlfriend's project for a year now. That's why I chose it over a brand or something more expensive!

I've already placed an order for a PSU, specifically the Gigabyte aorus elite 1000P 80+ Platinum. However, as I mentioned in my first post, I'm uncertain whether I need to order a motherboard since I'm not sure if the issue lies there or elsewhere.
