Fresh tips for better results
Hey there! Just installed the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 240 cooler and had my PC and BIOS auto-set the AIO pump to full speed. I didn’t give it much thought, then I opened Fan Xpert 4, ran the automatic tuning, and changed it to "Standard." But somehow it kept setting the pump at 100% even when temps were around 45°C. Do I really need the pump running at full speed all the time? Also, what are some tips for creating effective fan curves?
Complete pump speed isn't necessary when idling or playing games. 50-70% works just fine. The AIO is built to run at 100%, though this may increase wear slightly. I suggest keeping the pump at 50-70%. A steady speed is preferable to a changing one, as the latter adds more strain on the pump. Just set it around 50% and you should be good.
This setup would work well if you're not close to thermal throttling. If a steady 50% isn't sufficient, adjust to something like 60% or higher until it feels right for your CPU. Maintaining this approach would lower wear and noise while still delivering good water flow speed.
Thanks in advance! I configured the fans as requested and plan to adjust them later.
I acquired the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D recently. It came with an ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO for cooling, but I didn’t like its appearance and it sometimes made noise. It might be too much effort since I’m not overclocking it.
