i waited roughly 3 to 5 minutes. didn’t want to continue if something went wrong, so i stopped running it and closed it off. i wasn’t expecting a first boot to take so long—this was unfamiliar. could you clarify what you mean? i’m new to this stuff. my only previous project was a basic unraid server from last year.

The code is 15, indicating everything is fine, and we should hold off on memory training just yet. Hopefully so—this would be great news.

Using the flashback tool described in the guide (I’ve used my X670E Taichi around 15 times with this approach). A freshly formatted FAT32 USB stick, along with the MBR and BIOS file, is placed on the drive and renamed to "creative.ROM" inside the BIOS flash port on the back. Power the PSU on (don’t start the PC), press and hold the BIOS flash button until the LED begins blinking. Once it stops, wait 5–10 minutes, turn off the PSU, remove the USB stick, and try booting again. This method isn’t a certainty, but it’s one step you might need to follow when encountering boot issues.

Memory of a flashback using just a USB stick on the board, though I'm fairly sure it's not the problem

You might need to take this step if you're trying to resolve the issue. It's a common troubleshooting action and may be the only way to make the system show the card as the problem. It could be frustrating, but it's something you'll likely have to do. Unless your debugging or indicator lights suggest otherwise, consider removing the card—especially if it's hard to fit in or isn't seated correctly. This should help the iGPU function and get you into BIOS. If you choose not to remove it, bring it to a professional for proper diagnosis. Being clear is what I'm trying to convey.

I plan to pause for a minimum of 10 minutes—15 minutes for memory training—on AM5. It might take several minutes before it actually posts, and the initial attempt feels really tough.

You purchased premium components, specifically enthusiast parts. It's important to do your due diligence! Sadly, we both underestimated the cost of the CPU. It's frustrating that we ended up spending a lot on motherboards when a $150 unit offers comparable performance—just as you mentioned, it's just what it is. The 4090 model has been around for two full years since its release and still feels outdated compared to its original launch.

As a summary, I’ve never experienced anything taking more than 20 seconds on a 2x16GB setup, and I’d be surprised if it exceeded 40 seconds for a 2x32GB configuration.
