Fresh PC setup (7800x3d, 4090) with no HDMI output on startup
I recently assembled a brand new 7800x3d,4090 PC build. After installing everything, I double-checked all wires and components. The system booted normally on the first try—fans spun, motherboard lights lit, GPU lights activated, and the TV confirmed it was connected to HDMI 1 before shutting out briefly. I tested various setups: HDMI to 4090 GPU, integrated graphics HDMI, different TVs, cables, and even rebooted multiple times. All components were properly seated and reconnected. I connected the keyboard and pressed F2, then tried using DEL key, but no display appeared. My guess is it needs to enter BIOS for proper output. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Are there any debug lights on the motherboard suggesting a problem? If not, make sure your RAM is listed in the QVL. If not, the issue might be with the RAM package you bought—it could be faulty or incompatible, though this is uncommon. You can test one RAM module and slot individually to check for defects.
few ideas to try: without GPU some BIOSes are configured that the GPU will turn off if theres external GPU different GPU monitor not tv, tv are asses they wont be detected or they dont detect imput, just weird (talking from experience) on completly different note further more problem could be RAM or CPU MOBO compatibily
It's a X870E, fresh out of the factory and don't need any update for a Zen4 chip... I'd try to boot using the iGPU without the 4090, and only 1 RAM stick
I attempted to link to the IGPU, but it’s hard to take it out since the water cooler tubes are covering it. You’d have to detach the cooler from the CPU heatsink to access the GPU, which is quite a hassle.
Have you attempted the DP ports? It’s important to know how much time you’ve been waiting before it started up. Newer systems with DDR5 often experience significant delays during initial boot.
