I attempted to configure it for PCIe 4.0 and even 3.0, but nothing changed. There’s no way to switch between x8 and x16 speeds. I also tried replacing the power supply, but nothing resolved the issue. Further research uncovered reports from users on two forums about Powercolor 6650s experiencing problems with MSI 12th-gen boards using Slot 1. The symptoms vary, but I’m using a Z690 instead of a B660M. I’m unsure if I can get the 6650 back, so if MSI doesn’t provide a fix quickly, I might need to replace the motherboard.

A video by JayzTwoCents discussed unusual problems with GPU/MoBo pairings. The card functioned properly in other combinations, but only that exact setup caused boot issues. It turned out to be a rare edge-case linked to specific VBIOS and UEFI/BIOS settings after an update. They weren’t fully compatible, leading to unpredictable behavior. It’s possible a VBIOS or UEFI/BIOS update could resolve the issue, especially if you're using a newer platform.
