Hello, I recently upgraded my PC to an RTX 3080 (INNO 3D RTX 3080LHR X3 with 10GB VRAM). Since then, games have started crashing unexpectedly. I purchased this GPU from a German site, which seems legitimate. I play in 4K at maximum settings using a 4K 60Hz monitor. The issues I've encountered so far include crashes in Microsoft Flight Simulator, Hitman 1, A Plague Tale: Innocence, and full PC with GSkill Aegis at 3000Mhz. My system includes an Intel 660p 1B M.2 SSD, a Dark Rock Pro 4 Deep Cool DQ750-M-V2L PSU (750W), several fans, and a case. Temperatures stay well below 80°C for both CPU and GPU in all titles. I've read articles from late 2020 suggesting the 3080 struggles with clocks above 2GHz, but according to GPUZ Log, my GPU never reaches such speeds during crashes. Before this upgrade, I used a KFA2 GTX1660S and had no similar problems.
haven't tried any of these methods, do you mean the standard Windows Safe Mode? And is DDU-ing the Driver the tool that just deletes the driver (just looked it up, haven't used it before)? Reinstalled it from GF experience as a first step, testing now. Edited August 4, 2022 by BigSmoke908
Psu isn't doing enough here; the 3080 handles most 750W units well, and it's simple to test. Reducing your GPU speed will help stability when playing games.
DDU is a tool frequently used by users, especially those in the tech industry, to easily remove driver files. I noticed some issues here that were quickly resolved after reinstalling drivers via DDU and then using standalone drivers instead of GeForce Experience. It’s recommended to run DDU in safe mode (yes, regular Windows safe mode without networking works). There are many tutorials available on YouTube explaining how to use it. Could you tell me your PSU brand and model? I understand Nvidia specifies a 750W requirement for the FE, but some GPUs might list different needs (for example, the ASUS ROG STRIX 3080 OC requires 850W). Lower-end PSUs may struggle to provide sufficient stable power. Are you connecting your GPU through a daisy chain PCIe or a PCIe extension? If using a daisy chain, try using two separate PCIe cables.
