She’s experiencing random crashes where her PC shuts down to a black screen. Initially, we suspected the CPU because it always ran at full speed unless Task Manager was open. Even after removing the riser cable, the issue persists. The problem occurs with any app—web browsing or heavy games—and happens no matter the settings. I’ve checked each RAM separately and still saw the crash. It seems either all four RAM modules are faulty or there’s another hardware concern. Since she’s in a different country, we can’t test parts locally. We’re looking for advice on what might be causing the CPU to stay locked at maximum speed.

Consider removing the two 8GB modules and using the two 16GB sticks in dual-channel mode temporarily. Watch for any crashes. Pairing RAM from the same model but installed weeks apart isn't advisable—different models and sizes should be avoided altogether.

I understand this might be a RAM problem. It won't function with DOCP/XMP activated. She can operate at auto speeds or adjust frequency, voltage, and timing manually. If you're using it for gaming, I'd suggest swapping out the 16GB module for a 32GB one in slots A2 and B2.

The potential RAM concern likely includes both issues together, not just one or the other.

It wouldn't be accurate to focus on the power settings alone. Review the ongoing discussion, especially @GuiltySpark's latest update.

Checked both sets of removed RAM units to identify the issue, but it continues to crash.

Start with one stick in slot 4, if it fails switch to slot 2 and test another stick. This helps identify issues with the modules or slots. Run the test without XMP/EXPO enabled in stock JEDEC for added stability. Check if your GPU is overclocked and your CPU is overclocked. Opening the task manager while running this suggests there might be malware activity.

CPU and GPU remain in their standard settings, never modified for overclocking. I considered scanning for mining malware but she doesn’t rely on it for anything other than streaming and gaming, making it unlikely. She faces some problems with BIOS navigation and I’m not comfortable exploring her BIOS menus. Right now she’s freezing up, briefly triggering a BSOD, turning black, then restarting on its own.

Identified the problem as related to the vertical mount and riser cable. Removed it and the device hasn't failed again.
