Freezing issue after m.2 setup After installing m.2, the system began to freeze unexpectedly.
I purchased a WD Black SN750 M.2 SSD and checked its presence in the BIOS, but my mouse and keyboard didn’t respond. Temperatures are still settling but I can’t interact with it. Pressing F12 opens a menu (only cancel works), then I can move the mouse, but it freezes after cancel. I can boot into Windows normally except I don’t see the SSD listed in the drives. My system uses an MSI B450 TOMAHAWK non-MAX model, and it hasn’t received a BIOS update since purchase—no flash drive was available. The BIOS version is E7C02AMS.170 from March 6, 2019. My RAM has been optimized to 3200 MHz for a long time before this. I have two other hard drives besides the SSD, and I know SATA ports 5/6 are disabled when using the M.2 slot, though my drives are in slots 3/4, which should be okay. If anyone has advice—especially if updating BIOS is an option—I’d appreciate it. Otherwise, free solutions would be best.
You likely only need to set up the drive using the manage feature. Press the Windows key and type "Computer Management," then select "Disk Management," locate your SSD, right-click and choose "New Simple Volume," adjusting details such as drive letter or name as needed.
If you manage to bypass the BIOS setup, you typically can upgrade it using online resources without needing a physical drive.
