Frames malfunction in games suddenly
My frame rates are skipping suddenly in Apex Legends and occasionally other games, which is frustrating as it prevents me from playing ranked.
My system specifications are: CPU - Ryzen 5 1600X overclocked to 3.9 GHz; GPU - Nvidia 1060 6GB; RAM – Corsair Vengeance Pro 2 x 8GB 3200MHz; MOBO – ROG Strix B350F; PS – Corsair 550W (model uncertain); Monitor – 144Hz 1080p FreeSync.
Previously, I experienced no frame skipping in Apex Legends while using low settings to maximize performance on my monitor. I have attempted various troubleshooting steps, including adjusting configuration files, but the skipping persists. I am unsure of the cause and would appreciate assistance.
I aim to play Apex Legends competitively and consistently achieve 144 frames regardless of circumstances. Can anyone recommend a suitable AMD GPU under £400 that can deliver these results, considering my FreeSync monitor?
Which driver are you utilizing? Are you configuring Nvidia settings manually or allowing GeForce Experience to manage them?
I mean to disregard extraneous information and focus solely on conveying the core meaning of the original text in a concise and direct manner.
Loading scenes causes lag. When moving from point A to point B, the HD must load a new scene/location, which combines HD loading time with potential internet lag and download speed limitations. What type of hard drive are you using? What resolution is being utilized?
Apex has been installed on a 125GB SSD, which was recently moved from its original location to assess its impact on performance (the change did not resolve the issue). The remaining games are stored on a 2TB Seagate HDD. Resolution is set to 1080p.
Have you checked Task Manager while playing the game to see if anything is running in the background and taking up resources? I have also read that Apex is a lag fest recently and may not be on your end. But you say this happens in other games?
There are no processes running in the background. It could potentially be a lag issue originating from my end; however, when stuttering occurs, there’s no visual indication on the top right related to ping. I previously considered whether an upgraded power supply was necessary, and I believed 550w would suffice for my current configuration.
I am considering upgrading my PSU to 850W and pairing it with a Sapphire Radeon RX Vega 64 Nitro+.
