Hi, I have a question about the frames per second I receive on some games that don’t match my system specs.
My details are:
GPU: 2080ti
CPU: i9 9900k
RAM: 16 GB 2666 MHz
Motherboard: Z type (name not provided)
Power Supply: 650 volts white
Temperatures stay between 78 to 80°C during CPU-intensive games.
I played Horizon Zero Dawn and Dirt Rally 2.0 at 1080p with ultra settings, getting 60 to 70 FPS.
Some people claim they get 80 FPS on 2K, anyone know what’s going on or how to fix it?

The Corsair PSU will meet your expectations and you can upgrade it later without any problems. You can move to a 4080Ti version in the future and everything will work fine. A solid decision with a good warranty, likely lasting around five years.

What PSU is that? It seems like it might be the problem with performance, but it's 650 volts white. If it's a white-rated 80 plus, that's definitely not a good choice given your nearly $2000 investment in components.

it's cooler with the master, but if 650 works then I don't believe that's the issue behind the low frames.

You can purchase a reliable 550-watt PSU and everything will be okay since the amperage on the 12v rail is solid and not low as in cheap units. If you prefer a budget PSU for your setup, you should opt for something around 750 watts; otherwise, a 550-watt model with sufficient amperage on the 12v rail will perform well.

I don't agree either, but it remains a worry. How and when are you testing the gaming temperatures? I can't say for sure, but dirt rally 2 uses less than 20% of my Ryzen 7 (same core and thread count as your Intel CPU). You shouldn't be near 80°C while playing that game—what cooler are you using? What is your case and airflow configuration? This seems to point to a CPU issue because at 1080p a 2080Ti should maintain around 120fps.

What are your settings, have you updated the latest drivers as this is a new release, It is hard to say unless you are using the exact setting that they are using. Also what are your frequencies on the CPU, and also GPU. There is always the silicone lottery and the law of averages....... The PSU thing can effect the ripple and other things depending on how many rails. It is good to calculate your wattage or you can even get a smart plug of Amazon to get a reading and double it. Maximum PSU efficiency is in the 55-65% range but changes based on model. Also make sure that it has all the protections possible. Why not spend $200 on a good power supply when you will spend $2000 on GPU & CPU. I have had a cheap power supply ruin a nice system and it sucks.

i own a water cooler for the cpu, and this temperature gets it on cod. the case stays cooler master, but i also forgot its name—i’ll look it up later. so far, in dirt rally 2.0, the temps are between 50 and 60, but only games like death stranding and cod reach high temps.

I received the newest update too, and I used DDU for the previous one as well. Also, is the Corsair RM series RM 850 with 80 Plus Gold certified, fully modular, and good quality? And I’m not sure about the rails.

I plan to upgrade the PSU, but is the Corsair RM series RM 850 watt 80 plus gold certified a fully modular option?
