I understand Arma 3 isn't optimized well, especially since most players struggle below 40 fps. Recently I've seen a big jump into unplayable areas (10-20 fps). I'd expect a modern gaming laptop could handle the game smoothly without constant lag, particularly in single-player missions rather than multiplayer. Server issues or massive battles aren't the main problem here. I'm using an MSI Gs60GhostPro with an i7 6700HQ @ 2.6GHz and a GTX 970M with 6GB RAM. The issue appears to be a CPU bottleneck—even at 200% sampling it doesn't improve the frame rate.

Yea it is cpu bottlenech, however throwing that game on SSD will help immensely. Rare game where SSD almost completely reduces stuttering which in this game is closely tied with minimum FPS. I noticed difference on 4.4GHz 4770k when moving that game on SSD... It is such a huuuuuuuuge difference.

When you're streaming, the server limits the frames per second. It's also a CPU-intensive game, so I'm not sure what your laptop's performance will be with it.

It's clear that ArmA 3 stands out as significantly better optimized compared to most games available now. While its frame rate might not match typical expectations, the performance feels impressive given the amount of work being done.

I was watching the CPU while gaming and it showed only 30-40% usage for both the CPU and GPU. The server might limit FPS, but a friend of mine on the same server at the same spot in the map achieves over 40 FPS with a 4790k/GTX 970.

The claim remains unproven despite repeated statements. It's clear to anyone managing the server that this hasn't happened before for Arma 3. Even if emphasized often, it doesn't hold up when tested by running simple scripts and observing performance drops. The main issues stem from the game being single-threaded, causing significant slowdowns in simulation and graphics. Effects like smoke or fog tend to run on the CPU instead of the GPU, which is unusual compared to other titles. The complexity of the simulation increases with more players, leading to noticeable lag. Performance also suffers in areas like forests, where high settings can cap at around 60 FPS. For a smooth experience, a powerful Intel CPU and a top-end GPU are essential, especially with mods enabled. A well-maintained server with fewer than 30 players can usually achieve 50+ FPS, often reaching 60 more frequently.
