Frame rates are typically below average in League of Legends.
Recently, I encountered difficulties with frame rate drops. Approximately a week ago, my Chrome browser and several games exhibited sluggish performance. I’ve since updated my NVIDIA driver, but the lagging in Chrome persisted. While playing League of Legends, I typically set my frame rate limit to 144Hz due to my monitor’s refresh rate, but now I'm consistently receiving between 90 and 120 frames per second – inconsistent performance. To investigate, I lowered the limit to 200Hz, resulting in roughly 130-140fps, which is unusual. I also attempted to remove the cap entirely, achieving 150-165fps. Furthermore, in the game osu!, I sometimes experience frame drops, reverting to a few frames behind, and this is frustrating.
My troubleshooting steps included:
* Reinstalling the graphics driver
* Utilizing malware removal software (CCleaner, Malware Bytes, Kaspersky) to scan for and eliminate infections
* Verifying Windows updates are current
* System Specifications:
* CPU: Intel Core i7-6700k
* GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Strix
* RAM: 16GB DDR4 at 2666MHz
* Operating System: Windows 10
* Driver Version: 436.30
Regarding your system’s performance, could you please specify the power supply unit’s manufacturer and model, as well as its age? Also, what is the most recent BIOS update for your motherboard? Notably, you omitted the motherboard's make and model. Have you attempted to restore an older driver for your graphics card? Does this issue solely occur within League of Legends? For informational purposes, CCleaner typically offers limited assistance when utilized with Windows 10; it functioned more effectively on previous versions of the operating system, though, and can sometimes cause instability.
My power supply unit is a Corsair RM1000x, and I haven’t modified its firmware. My motherboard is a Z270 ASUS, and despite attempting to install older NVIDIA drivers, the issue persists. This problem is also present in osu!, though manifesting differently—I receive my typical frame rates but encounter persistent instability. Other games, such as Black Desert Online, demonstrate lower frame counts. I’ve examined videos featuring comparable or less powerful hardware running at higher frame rates, indicating a fundamental problem.
