Hello everyone.

I recently upgraded my motherboard, CPU, and graphics card. While games run flawlessly at 1440p resolution, I occasionally experience brief freezes lasting a couple of seconds followed by smooth operation. This is incredibly frustrating. I’ve thoroughly investigated all Windows 10-related issues, deactivated Discord and in-game overlay applications that could be impacting performance, and adjusted numerous settings within the Nvidia control panel. I'm considering my RAM as a potential cause due to its slower speed. I’ve disabled various options via Windows PowerShell and am at a loss for further troubleshooting steps.

Should I switch the Nvidia control panel slider from “prioritize quality” to "emphasize performance" or change PhysX settings to utilize the GPU?

Please advise!

I have:
RTX 2070
i7 8700
Asus Z390-H motherboard
(16x8) 32GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM (from a previous system, leftover components)
Operating System on a 500GB Samsung 860 EVO drive.

Do you experience frame rate dips in addition to minor stuttering? Stabilize the frame rate by enabling VSYNC within games, or through NVCP, and subsequently monitor your performance. What is the manufacturer and model of your power supply unit/PSU?

You may also attempt this: Switching the Power management setting from “Adaptive” to “Maximum Performance”… https://nvidia.custhelp.com/...ent-mode-...erformance

I’ve observed a considerable decrease in my frame rate when temperatures are low. My display device utilizes G-Sync technology. My power supply unit is a CORSAIR RMx Series RM750X, providing 750 watts and certified with an 80 PLUS Gold rating.

I’ve received an update: currently, my processor is spiking to 90% utilization without any active applications running. Additionally, my apps and browser windows are experiencing freezes and erratic behavior. I'm examining my core temperatures, which appear normal despite this. There’s also a noticeable lag when typing. What could be causing this? Is it potentially a power supply unit issue? This is perplexing; all fans are operating at full speed and there isn’t any evidence of overheating… Considering that my RAM and CPU are the oldest components in my system, dating back to around 2015.

It appears that Windows 10 operating system, specifically recent updates, could be causing this issue. Do you have a new and untouched version of Windows 10? Perform a scan of your computer for malware or viruses as a precaution.

I recently purchased a clean operating system alongside the latest SSD drive I acquired.

After reinstalling Windows, my central processing unit remains consistently running at a high level with only a few lightweight applications active. It occasionally decreases to 1% utilization, but I experience a noticeable sense of stuttering and sluggishness when opening Google Chrome, creating new windows, or launching Task Manager.
